Ivan Albright, originally an auto body technician from the Washington area, began the Technician Development Program. He had the opportunity to talk to the CEO of Gerber, Tim O’Day, when he met O’Day on a plane ride by chance, and in this conversation, he was asked how long he would stay in this role. To this, Albright responded that he wanted to contribute on a greater scale during his time at Gerber. He was then asked how he would make this happen, which left Albright to reflect on this question.
During the same flight, Albright got to work creating potential ways to benefit Gerber’s customers and teammates in the long run, and during this brainstorm, he came up with the Technician Development Program. Now, Albright is our Technician Development Program Manager, and he continues to pave the way for the next generation of technicians.
What is the Technician Development Program?
The Technician Development Program (TDP) is an 18-month program where an entry-level trainee works hands-on with a skilled mentor to become a successful body technician. This program allows shops to train the future of the company while also increasing production hours at a discounted rate. Interested in learning more? Reach out to [email protected]
